By this point in the summer, many OU students will have left Norman for adventures across the country and across the globe. While many are undoubtedly having amazing experiences visiting family and friends or working or interning, the staff here at OUFORUM want to highlight the stories of those students studying abroad over the summer, as well as those who have recently studied abroad. This summer, OU goes global.
Studying abroad can be one of the most life-changing experiences a college student can have. Experiencing a culture first-hand and interacting with its people, customs, food, and sights have the potential to have real, lasting change on students. According to the OU public affairs office, the university is one of the top in the country for study abroad programs, with 25% of students participating in programs in 82 countries.
This summer, we hope to share some of their stories. We have stories from students who have travelled to France, the Netherlands, Uganda, and more, in an effort to celebrate both their individual experiences and the contributions that study abroad has on students and on expanding their horizons. And their stories don’t stop when they get back. We’re also excited to share OU Writing Center’s digital storytelling project, which works with the College of International Studies to share stories from students who have studied abroad.
We’re excited to share these stories with you throughout the summer!
What global adventures do YOU have to share? A great international food? A new global friend? See our submission information here.
